Where to find the label
- Under the seat cushions.
- On the underside of the sofa or armchair.
- Inside the zip of the cushion covers.
- If you can't find it, look up the model in your purchase documents or ask the manufacturer.
What each code means
These are the most common codes and how they affect cleaning:
- W
- Can be cleaned with water-based products.
- S
- Solvent or dry cleaning only: no hot-water extraction.
- W/S
- Either method, with care.
- X
- Vacuum only: no cleaning products.
If you want to treat a stain yourself
- Always test on a hidden spot first.
- Blot without rubbing and don't soak the fabric.
- With an S or X code, don't use water or water-based products.
- If in doubt, leave it: some stains set more firmly if treated the wrong way.
How we use the label during the visit
Before cleaning, we read the label, identify the fabric and test on a hidden spot. If the fabric can take water, we clean it with injection-extraction; if it can't, we tell you and don't clean it that way.
Washable covers and fabrics we don't clean
- If the covers' label says they're machine-washable, it's often better to wash them at home.
- We don't clean leather, silk, delicate velvets or valuable antique pieces.
